2-week (16d/15n) "conquistadors" TOUR
The 'Conquistadors' tour travels the route of the Spanish in their conquest over the Inca Empire. Through the central Andes, it heads north passing by the Pastoruri glacier, the Callejon de Huaylas national reserve with its snow-capped mountains to the east, the famous Canyon del Pato with it's 43 tunnels, past the Huamachuco ruins and into Cajamarca, the northern capitol of the Inca Empre.
After visiting the wonders of Cajamarca, you will head down into the mountain jungle towards the land of the ancient Chachapoya (the 'Cloud People') and their fortess of Kuelap where they held off the Inca for more than a century. Also near Chachapoyas (the town) you will visit the newly famous Gocta Falls, the 3rd highest in the world!
